Chloe Zhao became the first Oscar winning woman of Asian descent

Nomadland has voted the best film at the 93rd Oscars. Chinese woman Chloe Zhao won the Best Director award for this movie.

She is the first woman of Asian descent in Oscar history and the second female director to win the award as director. Catherine Bigelow won the Oscar in 2010 as the first female director for The Heart Locker, released in 2009.

Chloe was also honored as the best director at the Golden Globe and BAFTA before she ran for the Oscars. Nomadland has been nominated for a total of 8 Oscar categories.

The film tells the story of how a woman in her sixties lost her job and won the battle of life in a van.

Francis McDormand won the Golden Trophy for Best Actress for the third time for her performance in the film. Sir Anthony Hopkins received the Best Actor award for The Father.

This year’s Academy Awards were also organized on a small scale. Two venues were chosen for the epidemic situation. While some of the stars were found on stage at the Dolby Theater and Union Station in Los Angeles, most joined virtually.
