The US has imposed sanctions on Russia

The United States has imposed sanctions on Russia over cyberattacks, election interference, and threats to Ukraine. President Joe Biden made the announcement on Thursday. The sanctions were imposed on 16 Russian companies and 17 top officials.

In an executive order, Biden said Russia was behind the horrific Starwind cyber-attack last year. In addition to inciting insurgency in Ukraine, Moscow has also interfered in US elections.

As a result of the strictures, a number of steps will be taken, including banning Russian institutions and dismissing Russian diplomats.

Meanwhile, Moscow has warned that Washington’s decision will be met with a strong response.
