21 workers trapped in China’s coal mine

Twenty-one workers have been trapped in a coal mine accident in China’s Xinjiang province. Parts were flooded after the mine exploded on Saturday.

After that, the power connection was cut off. At that time 29 workers were staying inside the mine. Authorities quickly rescued six people. However, 21 people were trapped inside.

A spokesman for the rescue team said it was difficult to get them out as the inside of the mine was flooded. The rescue operation was carried out by the staff of the Disaster Management Department as well as members of the military.
