The government of Bangladesh has announced a nationwide lockdown for the second phase of the coronavirus Covid-19. The country’s banking system will continue to operate on a limited scale in the lockdown.
This was stated in a circular signed by the Deputy Secretary of the Cabinet Division Shafayat Mahbub Chowdhury on Sunday (April 4). It said the banking system would remain limited. Bangladesh Bank will give necessary instructions in this regard.
Incidentally, the country’s scheduled banks continued to operate on a limited scale during the government’s public holiday last year to prevent coronavirus infection. At that time the transaction was going on from 10 am to 1 pm. And the bank was open till 3 o’clock in the afternoon.
This new lockdown will run from next Monday (April 5) to Sunday (April 11).
