The Netherlands has also suspended the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine for people under the age of 60. The announcement was made in a statement issued by the health ministry on Friday.
The move comes as a precaution after the death of a vaccinated woman. About 10,000 appointments awaiting vaccination were canceled.
Authorities said the decision was made in consultation with the drug control agency Lareb and the health department. According to Lareb, after receiving the vaccine, they found serious side effects in the bodies of 5 people.
AstraZeneca said talks were under way with Dutch authorities. Earlier, Germany decided to suspend the vaccination of children under the age of 60. Canada made a similar decision.
