Maldivian president leaves Dhaka for home

Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih left here tonight after wrapping up his two-day official visit to attend the celebrations of the country’s golden jubilee of independence and the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

“An Emirates Airlines flight, onboarding the Maldivian president along with his wife Fazna Ahmed and other entourage members, took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HISA) at 1.00 am tonight,” a spokesperson of foreign ministry told BSS.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen saw the Maldivian president off at the airport, he added.

Earlier, the red carpet was rolled out as Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih arrived here on Wednesday morning on the two-day official visit.

Solih became the first among the world leaders to attend the celebrations of the golden jubilee of the country’s independence and the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

During his visit, he had bilateral talks with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and meeting with President Md Abdul Hamid.
