The date of opening of educational institutions in Bangladesh may be postponed

If the coronavirus infection continues to increase, the opening date of educational institutions may be delayed, said the Minister of Education, Dr. Dipu Moni.

The education minister made the remarks at a press conference at the International Mother Tongue Institute in the capital’s Segunbagicha on Friday (March 12th). The press conference was organized on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of independence.

Commenting on the matter, Dipu Moni said, “The safety of students, teachers, and parents comes first. If the corona infection is on the rise, the decision to open an educational institution may be delayed. ”

Due to coronavirus, all educational institutions in the country have been on holiday since March 17 last year. After almost a year, the inter-ministerial meeting of the Minister of Education on February 27 decided to open all the primary, secondary, and higher secondary level educational institutions in the country on March 30.

Besides, the government also decided to reopen the residential halls of all the universities on May 16 and start classes in all the public and private universities from May 24.
