The webinar session was attended by many parents from both DPS STS and ISD. Several important facts on parenting during the lockdown was discussed in the webinar. The speaker covered many important topics like stages of psychosocial development, children’s behaviour during the pandemic, home fun activities, do’s and don’ts when your child is angry, stressful expression of teens during the crisis, storytelling session, and spirituality and prayers. Dr. Farzana has also answered various questions from the parents.

On this occasion, Madhu Wal, Principal, Delhi Public School Dhaka, said, “Fear, uncertainty, and being holed up at home to slow the spread of COVID-19 can make it tough for families to keep a sense of calm. But it’s important to help children feel safe, keep healthy routines, manage their behaviour, and build resilience. Thus, by understanding the importance of it, we are pleased to collaborate with ISD to conduct a session between the parents and Dr. Farzana Islam to advise them accordingly.”

TJ Coburn, Director, International School Dhaka, added, “Everyone is more anxious and worried during the pandemic. Younger children may not have the words to describe their feelings. They’re more likely to act out their stress, anxiety, or fear through their behaviour. On the other hand, older children may be extra irritable as they miss out on time with friends and special events being cancelled. Thus, we hope this session with Dr. Farzana Islam will give parents a clear perceptive of the actions of their children and ways to tackle them.”
