The lockdown of 5 million people in Melbourne, Australia’s second-largest city, resumed on Thursday. After the lockdown ended just a few weeks ago, the city dwellers are facing new and tougher measures.

City dwellers have been asked to stay at home for six weeks to prevent corona infection.

The state of Victoria has been systematically isolated from all parts of the country to sustain the success of other parts of Australia in controlling the virus.

Meanwhile, there are concerns about the economic and psychological impact of the second lockdown in Melbourne. Officials fear the new lockdown will cost 4.2 billion.

Restaurants and cafes will be able to serve food in very limited quantities. The gym, saloon, and cinema are completely closed. Also, residents cannot go out of the house without urgent need.

Nine thousand corona patients have been identified in Australia’s 2.5 billion population. 107 of them died.
