Tanjil Chowdhury elected as the new Chairman of Prime Bank Limited

The Board of Directors of Prime Bank Limited has unanimously elected Tanjil Chowdhury as the new Chairman of Prime Bank. The announcement came from the 500th Board Meeting held on June 1. He is succeeding Azam J Chowdhury.

At the age of only 36, Tanjil Chowdhury has become the youngest serving Chairman of a private commercial bank in Bangladesh. He previously had served both as a Board Member and the Chairman of the Executive Committee of Prime Bank.

Tanjil Chowdhury is the MD of East Coast Group, a versatile conglomerate with experience of more than 42 years in the downstream hydrocarbons and energy sector.

Tanjil Chowdhury also served as the President of Bangladesh Merchant Bankers Association (BMBA) and also as the President of the Solar Module Manufacturers Association of Bangladesh (SMMAB). Chowdhury is also Chairman of the Prime Exchange Singapore Pte. Ltd, Prime Bank’s remittance unit in Singapore.

He is the Secretary-General of Prime Bank Cricket Club, and also an elected Director of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Tanjil Chowdhury is currently serving as the Chairman of BCB’s Age-Group Tournament Committee and Interim Chairman of Facilities Management Committee of BCB.
