Freedom fighter Imamul Kabir Shanto, chairman of SMUCT, died of COVID-19

Freedom fighter Imamul Kabir Shanto, founder and current chairman of the private University Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology, has died of coronavirus covid-19. Imamul Kabir is also the founder of Sundarbans Courier Service Limited.

He died at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka around 7 am on Saturday. He was 66 years old. Shahana Ferdousi, public relations officer of the university, confirmed this information in the first light.

He has been in life support since Friday. He was treated at two more private hospitals before being admitted to CMHS.

According to his last wish, he will be buried in his mother’s grave at Banani Cemetery at 3.30 pm today, said Imujibur Rahman, Deputy Director of Shant-Mariam Foundation.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AQM Mozammel Haque has expressed deep grief over the death of freedom fighter Imamul Kabir. In a condolence message today.
