Bayern will not spend 120 million euros to buy Coutinho

The German giants will not take advantage of the 120 million euro opportunity of Bayern Munich to sign Brazilian star Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona. The club’s president, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, confirmed the information to local media.

“The chance of using the opportunity is over,” said Rummenigge. “Now we will start planning for the next season” he added.

Coutinho joined Bayern on loan from Barcelona in August last year. But in the German championship, Coutinho could not prove himself properly.

The Brazilian star has played in 23 of 25 league matches before the league closed in March due to Corona. Only in 15 of them, Coutinho was in the main team. He has scored 8 goals and assisted in 6 goals.

Rummenigge also hinted that Bayern will remain tight in the transfer market once the current situation is overcome. It is not a wise deal to pay club-record money only for a single player.
