The Chinese ambassador to Israel has been found dead. The ambassador’s name is Du Wei. Du Wei was found dead in his apartment in northern Tel Aviv.
The BBC reports that an Israeli government official confirmed the information about the death of Du Wei. On condition of anonymity, he added “Israeli police went to the scene as per the rules. An investigation has already begun…..Du Wei died naturally in his sleep.”
Du Wei was the only Chinese ambassador to Israel. He was 56 years old. He served in Ukraine before being assigned to Israel.
Diplomatic relations between Washington and Beijing have long been strained by trade wars and the Corona epidemic. Analysts say China has already taken steps to strengthen diplomatic ties with Israel. As part of that, Du Wei was appointed as ambassador to Israel.
Du Wei was married. He left one child.
