Maria Branyas of Spain recovered from Coronavirus at 113

A woman aged 113 in Spain, who is believed to be the most aged woman in the country beats Coronavirus, officials said.

Maria Branyas was infected with Coronavirus after Spain went into lockdown in March. But after staying isolated for few weeks, Maria Branyas has cured and she suffered only mild symptoms.

It means she has lived through the flu pandemic of 1918-19, Spanish civil war between 1936-1939 and therefore the coronavirus.

“Now that she is well, she is wonderful, she wants to speak, to explain, to make her reflections, it is her again,” her daughter tweeted.

She was Born in Mexico in 1907. In 1909, she moved to San Francisco and arrived in the Catalan province of Girona during World War One with her Spanish father who was a journalist. She raised three children – one of whom is 86. She has 11 grandchildren, amont them, the oldest one is 60. She also has 13 great-grandchildren.

She has lived for around 20 years at a care home in Olot.
