Bangladesh Cricket Board is waiting for government’s green signal

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is unwilling to resume cricket again in the country without a green signal from the government itself.

Right after the Coronavirus outbreak, BCB stopped all kind of sports activities around the country. Additionally, the board adopted work from home policy for some official works.

Before shutting down all cricket activity due to lockdown, Bangladeshi cricketers were busy playing in the country’s most prestigious List-A event the Dhaka Premier League. The league also had been postponed after the sixth game on March 16. After that, all the Bangladeshi cricketers are passing time at home.

“We want to reopen cricket again in Bangladesh and the players are also hoping the same. But it’s not up to us. At first, we require everything to go back to normal. We are waiting for a green signal from the government. We have no plan to bring the cricket back to the field without the government instruction”, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury stated.

Not just domestic cricket, Bangladesh’s international schedules also were also hit hard due to the novel coronavirus. Nizamuddin also said that the board is considering to resume Bangladesh’s cricket with the domestic games which are on pause now. Cricketers are also expecting the board will not cancel this year’s Dhaka League which is the main source of income for hundreds of cricketers who only play in domestic cricket.
