Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor dies at 67

Rishi Kapoor, renowned Bollywood actor, producer and director has passed away on Thursday. He was receiving treatment at a hospital in Mumbai. He was 67.

He won Indian National Film Award. He was admitted to HN Reliance hospital after falling ill on Wednesday morning.

Rishi Kapoor was fighting against cancer and had some breathing problems for over a year.

He was first admitted to a Delhi Hospital in Delhi, that time he was attending a family while going to a family work. At that point, Kapoor said that he was experiencing an “infection”.

However, after undergoing treatment for cancer within the US for nearly a year, the actor returned to India in September in 2019.

In February, Kapoor was hospitalized twice because of his health issues.

However, after he came back to Mumbai, he was again admitted to a hospital due to viral fever. The hospital later discharged him.

Born in south Mumbai, Rishi was the second son of Bollywood famous movie director and actor Raj Kapoor. He went to school together with his brothers at Campion School in Mumbai. Randhir Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor are his brothers who are well-known actors as well.

Rishi Kapoor premiered in his father’s 1970 film Mera Naam Joker, where he played his father’s role as a baby. He had his first lead role opposite Dimple Kapadia in 1973 film Bobby which became an instant hit among youngsters. He made a famous pairing with future wife Neetu Singh in multi star films like Khel Khel Mein, Kabhie Kabhie, Amar Akbar Anthony, Pati Patni Aur Woh, Duniya Meri Jeb Mein. the sole solo hit of the Rishi Neetu was Rafoo Chakkar.

He also acted in Don’t Stop Dreaming and Sambar Salsa, both of them are British films. He was paired with Neetu Singh in the film Do Dooni Chaar in 2010.

Rishi Kapoor tied the knot with actress Neetu Singh on 22 January 1980. The couple has two children Ranbir Kapoor and designer Riddhima Kapoor Sahani. Ranbir Kapoor is also an actor. Rishi Kapoor is the paternal uncle of actresses Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, and maternal uncle of industrialist Nikhil Nanda.
