Dhaka is considered a stressful city for being densely populated and having the worst traffic congestion. The city’s mental and physical health is also ranked poorly. According to the National Mental Health Survey in 2003-2005 about 16.05% of the adult population in the country is suffering from mental disorders.

In Bangladesh, Mental health expenditures from the government health department are very insignificant and are less than 0.5%. Often people especially the young population suffer from stress including, fear and tension because parents and senior people not wanting to listen to them, lack of space for them to speak about their wishes and choices, likings and disliking.

Moreover, they often could not talk about their mental health issues easily due to social stigma. Associate Professor of National Mental Health Institute Helal Uddin Ahmed said 50 percent of psychological problems begin before 14 years of age and 75 percent grow before 25 years of age. Hence it is important to help the young population than any other age group and also teach them to help themselves.

Under these circumstances, it is important, that people should come forward to help people release their stress, anxiety, promote a positive attitude and encourage creativity. Burnt Clay is fully equipped terracotta Studio located in Mirpur that will provide Clay Art Therapy on an hourly basis on every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
