Praava Health celebrates World Family Health Professionals Day

Praava Health celebrated World Family Health Professionals Day recently in Banani, Dhaka. The ceremony was led by Ms. Sylvana Q. Sinha, Founder, Managing Director, & CEO; Dr. Simeen M. Akhtar, Senior Medical Director; Dr. Faisal Rahman, Medical Director; and other members from Praava’s medical services team of Praava.

For the first time in Bangladesh, two years ago, Praava introduced the concept of Family Health Professionals, a team of medical professionals specializing in family health, including Family Doctors, Gynecologists, Pediatricians, Dentists, Ophthalmologists, Physiotherapists, Nutritionists, Health Coaches, Psychologists, and Nurses. Family doctors can address 80-90% of all medical issues’ patients may face without being referred to a specialist. In addition to diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses such as diabetes, they also provide routine health checks, immunizations, and counseling on lifestyle changes. In a range of instances where family health professionals may need to refer to specialists, they help to coordinate the care.

To celebrate World Family Health Professionals Day, Praava Health’s Family Health Professionals and the team held a rally in Banani followed by cake cutting ceremony and discussion at the Praava facility.

“Proper healthcare is our basic human right. When we opened our doors 2 years ago, we imagined family health centers where professionalism, expertise, and trust between physician and patient would not be luxuries of the lucky few but rights and realities for every citizen. Every patient deserves to be treated with care and respect. Our Family Health Professionals are our patients’ partners in health and provide personalized, affordable care for them and their entire families. Our hope is to continue to provide trustworthy treatment for our patients and become the brand all Bangladeshis can all trust with our health.” said Ms. Sinha.

“I am honored to be celebrating 2 years of Praava’s inauguration today in our journey to restore faith to healthcare in Bangladesh. I am proud to be working with our committed team of world-class Family Health Professionals to help our patients access the highest standards of healthcare,” stated Dr. Simeen. “In fact, our family doctors spend at least 15 minutes with each patient to listen to them, know them better, and understand their health challenges. This enables them to better diagnose and provide a more holistic approach to treatment.”

“Family medicine provides continuing, comprehensive healthcare for individuals and their families for all ages. In fact, family doctors can address 80-90% of all medical issues patients may face without being referred to another specialist. Our Family Health Professionals share our company’s common values of preventive health – indeed, when healthcare systems invest in and prioritize family health and prevention of illness, patients spent less money on healthcare, and they enjoy longer and healthier lives.” Dr. Faisal Rahman shared.
