Mushfiqur becomes third Bangladeshi to reach 6000-run club

Wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim became the third Bangladeshi batsman to reach 6000 runs in ODI cricket during the second ODI versus Sri Lanka at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday.

He reached the coveted milestone after Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan. He was just shy of eight runs before the match and didn’t take time to reach the milestone as he pushes a delivery of Akila Dananjaya to square-leg for a single to achieve the feat.

As Bangladesh was struggling against Lankans in their must-win game, Mushfiur resisted alone almost.

Tamim Iqbal, however, is the highest scorer for Bangladesh 6,892 runs in 203 ODI’s. He has 11 centuries and 47 half-centuries under his belt.

Shakib scored 6,323 runs in 206 matches with nine centuries and 47 half-centuries.
