SERAC-Bangladesh formed divisional youth advocates group

SERAC-Bangladesh formed a group of 40 youths to initiate a long term divisional advocacy in Dhaka on Sunday at Biswa Sahitya Kendra, with the support from RHRN Bangladesh platform.

The goal of the meeting was to create scope to build a relationship with the youth and adolescent-friendly health services officials and service providers in the field. The meeting covered discussion around youth health issues and rights on Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) information and access to Youth Friendly sexual and reproductive health Services (YFS). It also aims to open space for youths in the locality to learn, exchange, and build strong networking and communication that makes a youth-adult partnership between them and the decision makers.

Participants urged that by engaging young people to this platform they will be able to attain information from the experts and access rightful health services.

They also remarked that an integrated plan of outreach beyond facility-based services should be introduced for better impact among youth and adolescents.

Youth Friendly Services are able to effectively attract young people, meet their needs comfortable and responsively and succeed in retaining young clients for continuing care. The meeting was moderated by SERAC-Bangladesh program officer Tasnia Ahmed, in presence of Assistant Director (program) Abdul Wadud, Finance & Admin Officer Md. Shohrab Hossain, Dhaka Divisional Coordinator Nazmul Hossain Oscar, Nahidul Islam and many others.
