Bangladesh World Cup preparation begins tomorrow

The Bangladesh’s preparation camp for the ensuing ICC Cricket World Cup starts tomorrow (Monday) with the available players under the supervision of head coach Steve Rhodes at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu said that chances are high that the coach won’t get all players on the first day’s practice since the final round of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) in on February 23 (Tuesday).

“The players who are playing DPL will be busy with the final round game, so at the moment it is tough to say whether all players will be available for the first day’s camp,” Nannu said here today.

After the completion of the DPL, the team management decided to give the players a couple of days off and the coach will get all players together for the practice camp from April 28, Nannu revealed.

“The players who are playing DPL needs rest, so chances are slim that coach will get all players together before April 28. But those who are not playing DPL will continue practice,” he added.

Star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan who was in Sunrisers Hyderabad camp to play IPL had already been asked to join the practice camp. Shakib is due to arrive in the country tomorrow.

Meanwhile Bangladesh’s coaching staffs including head coach Steve Rhodes are already in the country, after returning from the holiday following the abrupt conclusion of Bangladesh’s tour to New Zealand. Rhodes however watched a DPL game between Abahani Limited and Legends of Rupganj today at BSKP.
