National Youth Conference on Family Planning inaugurated in Dhaka

3rd National Youth Conference on Family Planning inaugurated in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The conference was hosted by SERAC-Bangladesh and IYAFP in partnership with UNFPA Bangladesh, RHRN, UKAID, Jhpiego, and Rtm. The conference was inaugurated by G M Saleh Uddin, Secretary, Division of Health, Education and Family Welfare, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in Dhaka.

It’s really important for youths to be involved in the family planning issue – G M Saleh Uddin said.

He further added that, family planning is not just about birth control, but also related to family planning and social planning.

Family Planning

According to him, the death rate of mother and child has been reduced in Bangladesh. Young people have formed Digital Bangladesh and these young people can reach the goal regarding family planning issue.

Dr. Annie Vestjens, the first secretary, “SRHR-Gender”, The Royal Netherlands Embassy said “this conference will create the platform for youths”

Dr. Annie also added that, Youths should get access to information. They should get knowledge of Sex and reproduction, so that they can go beyond.

Dr. Annie said that, in the Netherlands, sex and reproduction are taught at schools. Bangladesh should focus on this and The Royal Netherlands Embassy will cooperate.

Mr. S M Shaikat, executive director of SERAC-Bangladesh conducted the inaugural program. Apart from others, Ms. Tasnia Ahmed was present as a speaker at the conference. Moreover, representatives from UKAid, IYAFP, RHRN were present in the conference.
