A traditional boat race jointly organized by SM Sultan foundation and district administration of Narail was held in the river Chitra in the district on Saturday afternoon.
State Minister for youth and sports Dr. Biren Sikder was present as chief guest at the inaugural function, while Khulna divisional commissioner Md.Lokman Hossain Miah, Zila Parishad Chairman Advocate Shorab Hossain Biswas, Superintendent of Police Md Jashim Uddin were present as special guests on the occasion. Deputy Commissioner of Narail Mohammad Emdadul Haque Chaudhury presided over the function.
The boat race started from Sheikh Russel Bridge in old ferry ghat of Narail town and ended at SM Sultan Bridge. A total of 22 boats from different places of Narail, Gopalganj, Madaripur and Khulna districts participated in the boat race.
Hundreds of people of all ages, including woman and children of the area and adjacent districts gathered on two sides of the river to see the attractive boat race.
