A 7.1-magnitude earthquake jolted near New Caledonia on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The powerful quake, which occurred at 0351 GMT, was centered 209 km west of Ile Hunter, New Caledonia, with a depth of 26.7 km, according to the USGS, reports BSS.
Despite the size of the tremor, no tsunami warning has been issued so far.
