6th death anniversary of Humayun Ahmed to be observed

The 6th death anniversary of prolific author, dramatist, screenwriter, playwright and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed will be observed today in a befitting manner.

Marking the day, the family of the preeminent writer has chalked out various programmes, family sources said.

The programmes include offering ziarat at the writer’s graveyard, paying homage to the writer at Nuhash Palli, and holding Milad and Doa (Prayer) mahfil at Shaheed Smriti Bidyapith established by the writer.

Humayun Ahmed was born at Mohanganj in Netrakona to Foyzur Rahman Ahmed and Ayesha Foyez on November 13, 1948.

He died of cancer at a hospital in New York on July 19, 2012.

The writer was conferred with Ekushey Padak, Bangla Academy Award, Lekhak Shibir Award and Michael Madhusudan Padak for his outstanding contributions to Bangla literature.
