Bangladeshi expatriate knifed to death in UAE

A Bangladeshi expatriate has been knifed to death allegedly by a fellow national over a dispute in the UAE’s Abu Dhabi.

The deceased has been identified as Abdullah Al Mamun, 35, of Fatikchhari Upazila’s Daulatpur village in Chattogram.

The suspect, 40-year old Mohammad Idris is a co-worker and was a resident of Chattogram’s Bahaddarhat neighbourhood.

The incident took place on Saturday noon local time at the Mussafah’s no 37 industrial area in Abu Dhabi, according to Bangladesh embassy’s legal officer Rezaul Alam.

Mamun’s body has been kept in the mortuary of Abu Dhabi Central Hospital.

Mamun and Idris both worked in a turning workshop, Rezaul told bdnews24.com.

“Dispute over food led to the killing,” he added.
