Mustafizur to miss T20I series against Afghanistan

Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman has been ruled out of next month’s Twent20 International series against Afghanistan in Dehradun, India after picking up an injury to his left foot, a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) press release said today.

The cutter master Mustafiz had joined the national team’s training camp last week following his return from India, where he had appeared in the Indian Premier League (IPL), but complained of pain. Subsequent tests have revealed a crack on his left big toe which will sideline him for a few weeks.

BCB’s senior physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury said: “An x-ray followed by a CT scan has confirmed a hairline fracture on the big toe. It takes around three to four weeks to recover from such injuries and therefore he (Mustafiz) can’t play against Afghanistan. We expect him to start rehab in two weeks after which we will continue to monitor and assess him.”

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh national cricket team left for India this morning to take part in the three-match T20 series against Afghanistan scheduled to be held on June 3-7.
