Human chain and media briefing organized by IDSEB at Press Club in Dhaka, Bangladesh

Institute of Diploma Survey Engineers Bangladesh organized a human chain and media briefing in front of Dhaka Press Club on April 7th. Central leaders of IDSEB presented their rights and demands. They are hopeful that the Government of Bangladesh will be concerned about their demands.

Since 1987, a 3 years course named Diploma in Survey Engineering is being taught under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board. Later on, in 2000, it was upgraded to 4 years course. In the curriculum of Diploma Engineering, there are 32 technologies and trades, Surveying is one of them.

In PSC, ministries, government departments and in agencies, Diploma Engineers are provided with the 10th-grade salary scale and designation. But, unlike other Diploma Engineering, Survey Diploma Engineers have not been provided with the 10th-grade salary scale and designation.

The demands of IDSEB leaders are –

1. Like other Diploma Engineers, Survey Engineers should be provided with the 10th-grade salary scale.
2. Surveyors working in several departments should be posted according to departments immediately.
3. In every government departments, the appointment of Surveyors and Sub Assistant Settlement offices should be done amongst the Survey Diploma Engineers.
4. The minimum requirement to join as surveyors in every government department should be Diploma in Engineering (Surveying)
5. Surveyor and equivalent positions’ designations should be changed to Sub Assistant Engineer (Survey)
