PM Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate 4000th Para Center in Chittagong hill tracts area

Priminister of Peoples Republic of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina is going to inaugurate the 4000th para center in Chittagong hill tracts area, which is made with Rangamati, Bandarban and Khagrachari districts. The inauguration program is going to held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel through the video conferencing. The Para Centres is a joint ICDP project initiative of UNICEF and CHTDB.

Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the 4000-meter-long center at Mittangchhari of Kaptai Union of Rangamati through video conferencing. During this time, the honorable state minister of Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tract Affairs, Mr. Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing,MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Hill tracts Ministry Mr. Moktadir Chowdhury, MP and Secretary of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs and Chairmen of Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board Mr. Naba Bikram Kishore Tripura ndc will be present.

This Integrated Community Development Project (ICDP) is a comprehensive project covering interventions on health and nutrition, early learning and school readiness, water and sanitation, and child protection issues for hard to reach ethnic minority communities (Paras) in the Chittagong Hill Districts (CHD).

The present project is trying to ensure basic service of 165000 families of 3519 villages of 119 unions of 26 upazilas of 3 Hill Districts. The project started at year 1983/84. Total projected expenditure for this project is 32 billion Taka. The Bangladesh government will spend Tk 157 crore and donor organization UNICEF will spend 163 crore taka.

By setting 200 new Para centers on Sunday, the ICDP will touch the milestone of the long-expected 4,000-Padakendra.
