Partex Agro will work together with the RDC to develop a program to support farmers in the southern delta of Bangladesh

Partex Agro signs MoU with ACDI/VOCA. ACDI/VOCA’s Tim Russell and Partex Star Group’s KM Ali signed the agreement.

Partex Agro Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the US nonprofit international economic development organization ACDI/VOCA to act as a partner for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)’s Feed the Future Bangladesh Rice and Diversified Crops (RDC) activity.

ACDI/VOCA, through the Rice and Diversified Crop (RDC) Activity Project in Bangladesh funded by USAID’s Feed the Future (FtF), signed a MoU with Partex Agro Ltd. on January 16, 2018 with the intent to help improving its competitiveness and to assist Partex Agro Ltd. to conduct activities that will improve or expand the support they provide farmers to:

  • use of quality seeds especially high yielding hybrid (both fine and fragrant rice) and crop protection products and advisory services and information on modern rice production technologies,
  • support who produced goods to forward/output market for hybrid, fine and aromatic basmati type rice through buyback assurance and linkage building with Danish Foods Ltd. (sister concern of Partex Star Group) and trader networks.

Technical assistance will be given to assist Partex Agro Ltd. conduct planning exercises to further refine and finalize initiatives proposed in Partex Agro Ltd.’s IFA response.

Partex Agro Ltd. agrees to work with and coordinate with ACDI/VOCA in the development of their initiatives as proposed in Partex Agro Ltd.’s response to the IFA. They also agree to allow ACDI/VOCA and/or members of the RDC Activity access to information necessary to assess the impact of the company-led activities on producers in the target areas.

In order to carry out and fulfill the aims of this MOU, both Partex Agro Ltd. and ACDI/VOCA will appoint an appropriate person(s) as its representative and to coordinate the refinement and finalization of initiatives proposed in response to the IFA.

Partex Agro will work together with the RDC to develop a program to support farmers in the southern delta of Bangladesh with crop production technology so that they can produce and market rice using its Slender Aromatic Hybrid Rice Variety ‘JKRH-1220’ with a buyback business model.
