Tamim Iqbal shows early form in practice match

Southpaw opener Tamim Iqbal, representing the BCB Red team, showed his early form ahead of the Tri-nation series as he slammed a brilliant century against BCB Green team in the first practice match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur on Saturday.

The dashing opener scored 104 off 119 balls that studded with 10 boundaries and two over boundaries before taking optional retirement. He was well supported by Mahmudullah who hammered 75-ball off 87 laced with three boundaries and five over boundaries.

Earlier, invited to bat first by Mashrafe Mortaza led by BCB Green team, BCB Red team amassed a daunting total of 320 for 6 from their allotted 50 overs.

Anamul Haque Bijoy scored 20-balls off 21 after opening the innings with Tamim while ace all-rounder Shakib added 24 runs off 36 balls. Sabbir Rahman contributed 19 runs while Mushfiqur backed to the dressing room without disturbing the scoreboard.

Later, Abul Hasan Raju’s breezy 19-balls off 35 run helped BCB Red team to cross the 300 runs land mark. Pacer Taskin Ahmed, Mostafizur Rahman and M Saifuddin bagged two wickets each for BCB Green team.

The second practice match between the two sides will be held on Tuesday (January 9) at the same venue
