Exhibition Release the Shutter for Climate Change to let people know what is waiting for us in future

Due to the issue of climate change, Photography Exhibition: Release the Shutter for Climate Change (RTS4) is going to held from 1st to 5th December 2017 at Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala, Mymensingh. This Exhibition is organized by Mymensingh Film & Photography Society (MFPS) & Mati NGO. It was enabled by Caritas Luxemburg an international NGO to spread awareness about climate change causes and effects. It’s going to show different pieces on the topic of climate change. And the exhibition is open for all.

Flat and low-lying landscape, Population density, Poverty, Illiteracy, Lack of Institutional setup etc., those are all some reasons why Bangladesh is so affected by climate change. Almost 80% of the total land area consists of Floodplains, which leave the prone parts flooding in the raining months. The frequent floods are not the only consequence of climate change. High Temperature, Sea-level Rise, Cyclones, Storm Surges, Salinity Intrusion, Heavy Monsoon Downpours are also outcomes of climate change.

Mati Bangladesh is an NGO working against climate change for several years now. Mymensingh Film and Photography Society (MFPS) represents local Bangladeshi Artists. Release the shutter 4 climate change is the first project Mati Bangladesh and MFPS arrange together.

National and International photographers have submitted their pictures. Over 65 artists wanted to share their work and a total of over 300 pictures were handed in. Unfortunately, not all of the pictures could be shown in the exhibition and a total of 40 pictures were selected from the pool.

This Photo Exhibition should create awareness to the massive problem of climate change and give ideas how we can solve the issue. Additional to the exhibition, some workshops will take place in the evening.

News Hour is working as the media partner for the exhibition.
