Dhaka Dynamites secures second win in BPL

An all-round performance came from all-rounder Shahid Afridi enabled defending champions Dhaka Dynamites to registered their second win in the AKS Bangladesh Premier League T20 beating Sylhet Sixers by eight wickets in the tenth match of the tournament held on Saturday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur.

The Pakistani dashing all-rounder first scalped Sylhet Sixers’ four wickets for 12 runs and later during the chase he played an entertaining 17-ball off 37 runs after Sylhet Sixers set a small target of 102.

Afridi also paired a breezy 59-run opening stand West Indies batsman Even Lewis before he was trapped leg before wicket by Tim Bresnan.

Later Lewis completed the mere formality along with Shakib Al Hasan (18 n.o) to take Dhaka towards the home making an unbeaten 17-ball off 44 runs, after Dhaka chase down the target scoring 106 with 73 balls to spare.

The West Indies batsman Lewis’s hurricane knock contained five over boundaries and two over boundaries.

 
Tim Bresnan of Sylhet Sixers took two wickets conceding 20 runs. Earlier, Sylhet Sixers were restricted at a paltry total of 101 for 9 from their allotted 20 overs, after they were forced to bat first by Dhaka Dynamites.

Sylhet Sixers faced early batting jolt losing wickets in regular intervals in the face of tight bowling display by the Dhaka Dynamites bowlers and eventually they could not recover from their early collapse.

Only three Sylhet Sixers batsmen – Abul Hasan (30 n.o), Danushka Gunathilaka (15) and Nasir Hossain (10) able to reach the doube digits.

Apart from Afridi’s four wicket haul, West Indies recruit Sunil Narine claimed three wickets giving away 10 runs.

Shahid Afridi of Dhaka Dynamites was named the player of the match for his impressive all-round performance in the match.

With this day’s win, Dhaka Dynamites secured four points from three matches while despite the day’s lose Sylhet Sixers remained top of the table with six points playing five matches.
