Vegas shooting survivor thanks brave strangers who helped her escape gunfire

News Hour:

A woman who survived the Las Vegas shooting has penned an emotional thank you note to the strangers who helped save her life.

Tiffany Michelle, from San Diego, took to Instagram to thank the “true heroes” who helped protect her as gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire on music fans from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel.

She posted a photo taken moments before the deadliest gun attack in US history, which left at least 58 dead and more than 500 injured.

The survivor thanked strangers at the concert, emergency responders and her off-duty police officer husband who stayed behind to help the injured as bullets rained down around her.

“Thank you for the brave men and women who stayed behind to help when everyone was running terrified for their lives,” she wrote.

“Thank you to the man who pulled me over the fence when my boot was stuck. Thank you to the girls who grabbed me and ran with me when they saw I’d been separated from my husband and friends.

“Thank you to the friends that came and got me from my place of refuge even when the shooter was still active. Thank you for the man who was willing to pile us in his car and drive us to safety.”
