Britain wants to mirror current dispute system with EU after Brexit

 News Hour:

Britain will press for close cooperation with the European Union to resolve cross-border civil disputes after Brexit and hopes to mirror much of the current system to offer certainty to citizens and businesses, a government paper said on Tuesday.

In its latest paper setting out its vision for future ties with the bloc, Britain said it wanted an agreement that “would mirror closely the current EU system and would provide a clear legal basis to support cross-border activities after the UK’s withdrawal”.

Britain repeated its intention to leave the “direct jurisdiction” of the European Court of Justice, but said the government understood that future civil judicial cooperation would need to take into account “regional legal arrangements”, such as the ECJ.
