Bangladesh Government’s poor effort to Flood Victims is a sign of extreme irresponsibility: Comrade Mubin

News Hour:

In a statement, Comrade Mubinul Haider Chowdhury, general secretary of Bangladesh Socialist Party (Marxist), urged government’s questionable endeavor with current flood situation and accurate rehabilitation to the sufferer of the north-regions. He also sought government’s immediate concern with proper management to alleviate flood disaster and rescue people’s lives and property.

He said, “due to flood, more than 2 million people are living in extreme disasters. The number of dead is increasing every day. All of the houses, crops, and livestock-fish have been floated. The educational institutions have been submerged into water. The government’s role in such a situation is weak as always. Initiatives to remove safe shelter, food, medicines, and relief supplies are inadequate. The rehabilitation plan is also unclear. Initially, the disaster that caused the flooding and pothole of haor in the area was not visible. We urge the government to immediately provide adequate food, clean drinking water, and medicine to the affected districts. At the same time, adequate shelter centers have been demanding to remove people safely.”

“The government will have to play a key role in protecting the afflicted people, as well as without the cooperation and sympathy of all the people, the affluent people will not have the courage and strength to stand up”, he added.

He also asked for help and coordination to the branches across the country to collect relief efforts for the flood victims.
