State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque yesterday said as many as 2.25 crore children would be fed Vitamin ‘A’ plus capsule across the country on Saturday from 8am to 4pm.

“Children aged between six and 11 months would be fed blue capsule while children from 12 to 59 months will be administered red capsule” he told a press conference at the ministry here.

Maleque called upon the guardians to feed Vitamin ‘A’ plus capsule to children aged between six months and five years to protect them from night blindness, ensure normal growth and increase immunity.

Children, he said, should be taken to the centers on a full stomach and the capsule should not be fed to a child in crying and ill state.

He said the campaign will be conducted at 1.20 lakh permanent and 20 thousand temporary centers throughout the country.

Temporary centers include different bus-stands, launch and ferry ghats, rail stations, bridge toll plazas and airports.

In remote areas, the state minister said, the campaign will be held between August 6 and 9.
