WorldFish has appointed Dr. Malcolm Dickson as the new Country Director for its Bangladesh and South Asia office. Malcolm’s expertise in aquaculture science, his significant private sector experience, prior experience in Bangladesh and successful program leadership position him well for this challenging role.

Dr. Dickson brings a wide range of experience to the job. A British national, Malcolm joined WorldFish in 2012 and has worked in research, development and commercial aquaculture and fisheries in Europe, Africa, Central and South Asia since the early 1980s.

“Bangladesh has made significant advances in the aquaculture and fisheries sectors in recent years,” said Malcolm.

“It is an honor to be working once more in Bangladesh and I look forward to deepening WorldFish’s engagement with the government, development partners, researchers and with the private sector to boost inclusive growth and reduce poverty in Bangladesh through sustainable aquaculture and small scale fisheries”.

Prior to moving to Bangladesh, Malcolm worked as the Country Director for WorldFish Egypt. Malcolm holds a PhD in aquaculture and a Master of Science in aquaculture and fisheries management from the University of Stirling (UK) and a Bachelor of Science in zoology from the University of Edinburgh (UK).

In his new role as the WorldFish Country Director for Bangladesh and South Asia, Malcolm will oversee and lead implementation of the WorldFish 2017-2022 strategy and the CGIAR Research Program on Fish Agri-food Systems in Bangladesh.
