‘Doob’ no bed for roses, got Jury award in Moscow

News Hour:

Filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s “Doob: No Bed of Roses” has won the Kommersant Weekend Prize at the 39th Moscow International Film Festival. The award was announced on the closing day of the festival.

At the October Theater, Russian film critic Andrew Plockov gave this award to Farooki. It is also competing in the category of the best films of the festival, which will be announced later.

Farooki says, “I just came back with the award. I never imagined that such prize was waiting for me. This is a huge honor for me and the country.”

The movie ‘Doob’ by Farooqi was shown on Wednesday in Moscow’s October Theater. After the show, Russian viewers praised Bangladeshi movie.

Russian film critic Andrewi Plokob said, “In Russia, we can hardly see Bangladeshi movies. When Russian films are losing their self-image through the influence of US and European films, the makers of Bangladesh are making all kinds of movies with their own stories.

The movie’s release has been stalled in Bangladesh. “We hope the government will understand this and the Bangladeshi audience will get to watch Doob soon,” said director Farooki.

The film has been produced by Abdul Aziz and Irrfan Khan under the banner of Jaaz Multimedia and Irrfan Khan Films.
