Bangla film “Doob” – “No Bed of Roses” to take part for Moscow Int’l Film Festival main competition

Today evening, 39th Moscow Int’l Film Festival inaugurated in Moscow with films stars and Film lover from all around the world. Bangladeshi Celebrated director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s film Doob: No Bed of Roses has been selected for the main competition section of this year’s Festival, one of the oldest and prestigious film festivals in the world.

This is going to be the second time a Bangladeshi director’s picture is going to be shown at the festival. The film ‘doob’ will be shown on theatre on 28th of June and 29th of June.

The “Doob” story builds up around the members of two families discovering the finer fabric of love when the headman of a family dies. A filmmaker named Javed Hasan leaves his wife and marries an actress who was his daughter’s classmate in school.

About being nominated at the festival, Farooki said “Many filmmakers have influenced my filmmaking and Andrei Tarkovsky is one of them. It is very emotional for me to have my film go the land that he came from.”

“Doob”-No Bed of Roses” may not have sat well with Bangladesh’s censor board authorities, but it is beginning to make waves internationally already. “Doob”, a joint venture between Bangladesh’s Jaaz Multimedia and India’s Eskay Movies, became the epicenter of a whirlwind controversy when in November last year, an Indian newspaper reported that the film was based on iconic Bangladeshi novelist, the late Humayun Ahmed’s life.

Irrfan Khan, the lead actor of the film along with actress Nusrat Imrose Tisha, director Farooki, and the producers joined the red carpet event and awards night on June 29, said Chabial team.

Apart from Irrfan Khan and Nusrat Imroz Tisha, Doob also features the likes of Parno Mitra from Kolkata and Rokeya Prachi from Dhaka.
