Bangladesh leads the world in UN Peacekeeping Mission

Peacekeeper’s memorial school & college and CLNB jointly organized a seminar on Sunday at Dhaka Reporter’s Unity on the occasion of International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers. The seminar titled “Bangladesh’s success in UN Peacekeeping” was led by Mr. Harunur Rashid.

“Bangladesh’s one of the biggest ways of earning remittance is UN Peace Keeping Mission”, speakers said in the seminar.

Bangladesh Armed Forces, Bangladesh Police and Ministry of Foreign Affairs has successfully led Bangladesh to the success. Apart from this, Bangladesh has been awarded the Fag Hammarskjold Peace Price for the contribution in the UN Peacekeeping Mission.

Bangladesh joined the peacekeeping mission in 1988 during the Iran-Iraq War. At present, a number of 6927 peacekeepers from Bangladesh are working in the Peacekeeping Mission, including 5912 people from Combined Forces and 1015 from the Police forces. Bangladesh has sent a total number of 149585 peacekeepers in 40 countries in 54 Peacekeeping Mission.
