Engagement of youth and children needed to save environment

Department of Environment, UNDP, Green Savers and Save the Children organized a national workshop on the engagement of children and Youth to save environment held at the LGED Conference Room on May 2, 2017, in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Architecture Iqbal Habib, Joint Secretory BAPA presented keynote paper in the workshop. Dr. Ainun Nishat, Professor Emeritus of BRAC University was present as chief guest in the workshop. Ms. Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Chief Executive, BELA, and Md. Mostak Hussain, Director- Humanitarian of Save the Children were present as special guest.

‘While consuming by adult population, next generation must be kept in mind. We must take care of our future while undertaking development work. It is equally true for development work planned around Sunderban as well ‘- said Syeda Rizwana Hassan, Chief Executive of BELA while attending the workshop.

Participants and students from Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University, BRAC University and Viqarunnisa Noon School & College took part in various sessions and presented their findings on issues like afforestation, waste management, water and air pollution. Jiaul Haque, Director, Department of Environment, Ministry of Environment and Forest presided over the meeting.
