English Premier League giants Liverpool will play leading Australian club Sydney FC in Sydney next month, the A-League team said Monday.
Jurgen Klopp’s team will line-up at the Olympic stadium on May 24.
“This is an incredible opportunity for Sydney FC to play against one of the world’s greatest football clubs,” Sydney FC chairman Scott Barlow said.
Liverpool ambassador and club great Ian Rush said the support in Australia was always “phenomenal”.
“We have so many incredible fans in Australia and there is always a brilliant atmosphere when we play over here”, Rush said in Sydney.
“The lads are really excited to get back out here and play a great game against one of Australia’s best A-league teams.”
Liverpool last toured Australia in 2015, playing to packed stadiums in Adelaide and Brisbane.
In 2013, 95,000 fans watched them beat Melbourne Victory at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
