A total of 39 people have been killed in fires during the week-long Spring Festival holiday, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) said on Saturday.
During the vacation, 13,796 fires broke out around the country, a year-on-year drop of 11.8 percent, killing 39, a decrease of 26.4 percent, said the ministry, reports BSS.
The MPS said police nationwide strengthened inspections of fire hazards across landmarks, shopping malls, religious sites, firework display areas and temple fair sites. Over 896,000 fire hazards were found, according to the ministry.
