JMB leader’s wife and 3 others surrender in Bangladesh

News Hour:

Four including two women and two children surrendered to the police as the law enforcing agencies were continuing a raid in Ashkona area of capital city Dhaka, Bangladesh to capture some militant suspects.

Among the four are the wife of slain Neo JMB military commander Major (Retd) Jahid and his daughter and wife of militant suspect Musa’s wife and daughter, Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md. Asaduzzaman Mia told journalists this morning, reports BSS.

During a media brief near the spot, he said three other militants including the son of slain militant Tanvir Quader, were still inside the house when police were trying to manage them to surrender.

“We are taking very careful steps to handle the situation as the militants were carrying grenades and high-grade explosive,” the commissioner said.

He also assured that all the measures have already been taken to maintain safety and security of other tenants of the house where the militants were hiding.

The Counter Terrorism unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police cordoned off a three-storey building named “Surja Bhaban” in Ashkona since early morning, suspecting it a hideout of JMB, the outlawed militant outfit held responsible for Dhaka cafe attack. The team was conducting the drive at the building near the Haji Camp.
