‘Stand up for someone’s rights today’: Human Rights Day 2016

‘Human Rights Day’ – a day when it believed to belong justifiably to every person on this earth. This day is observed every year on 10 December. This year’s theme of Human Rights Day is – “Stand up for someone’s rights today”.

Human Rights Programme (HRP), UNDP Bangladesh will organize a rally and a discussion session with relevant stakeholders in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Bangladesh on 10 December.

The rally will act simultaneously in Dhaka, Khulan and Rangmati – the two regionals office of NHRC. At the Dhaka event our Honorable Minister Mr. Anisul Huq, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs will grace occasion as the Chief Guest. Along with him Mr. Kazi Reazul Hoque, Chairman National Human Rights Commission, Bangladesh will chair the Programme. This initiative taken by the HRP will contribute to promote and protect the Human Rights in Bangladesh.

Human Rights Day commemorates the day on which, in 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In 1950, the Assembly passed resolution 423 (V), inviting all States and interested organizations to observe 10 December of each year as Human Rights Day.
