‘Veep’ wins best comedy series in Emmy

HBO’s political satire “Veep” the story of a hapless female US vice president who later becomes acting president on Sunday took home the Emmy for best comedy series.

HBO comedy series Veep created by Oscar-nominated Armando Iannucci, that follows the whirlwind day-to-day existence of the Vice President as she puts out political fires, juggles a busy public schedule and demanding private life, and defends the president’s interests, even as she tries to improve her dysfunctional relationship with the chief executive.

Veep stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who took home her fifth straight Emmy for the role earlier in the night — defeated “black-ish,” “Master of None,” “Modern Family,” “Silicon Valley,” “Transparent” and “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.”
