Fahad beats Rahul to jointly on top in Dubai Chess

Mohammad Fahad Rahman, the chess prodigy Fide Master of Bangladesh and one of the highest-rated contenders, once again hog the headlines as he beat the leader Rahul Srivatshav of India to go jointly on top at the points table after the completion of the seventh round, reports BSS.

This meet is being known as the 14th Dubai Juniors Chess Tournament – Sheikh Maktoum Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum Cup at the Dubai Chess and Culture Club.

This competition is being sponsored by Mahindra Comviva, a global leader in mobility solutions.

Fahad, a regular participant in this international tournament, currently is sharing the top position with Rahul Srivatshav of India and FM Matviishen Viktor of Ukraine.

Bangladesh young chess prodigy Fahad after beating Rahul Srivatshav of India in the seven round games on Sunday has now has a greater chance to win the tournament.

Fahad has also posted four straight wins earlier in the tournament.

A total of 110 players from 12 countries are taking part in the nine-round Swiss system tournament, which offers a total prize fund of US$10,000, with US$2,000 and the Sheikh Maktoum Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum Cup going to the champion.

The top 10 winners of the tournament will receive cash prizes, along with the best Emirati and Dubai Chess Club players.

The tournament allocates a thinking time of 90 minutes plus a 30-second increment for each move. All the matches are transmitted live at the club’s website and major international chess sites.
