Ebola medal: changes to eligibility requirements

News Hour:

On 29 March 2016, the World Health Organisation declared that the Ebola situation in West Africa no longer constituted a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. With the help of the United Kingdom, the epidemic is officially over.

This announcement has led to a review of the eligibility requirements for the Ebola Medal and it has been agreed that eligibility should cease with effect from 29 March 2016. This means that anyone deployed to West Africa who did not achieve the qualifying criteria by 29 March 2016 will not be eligible to receive the Ebola Medal.

Applications for the Ebola Medal from those who met the criteria prior to 29 March 2016 will continue to be considered up to 29 July 2016. Applications received after 29 July 2016 will not be processed.
