A two-month fishing restriction in the Bay of Bengal has begun

On Saturday, the government placed a two-month ban on fishing in the Bay of Bengal.

The restriction will stay in effect in the Bay of Bengal until July 23 and in the Sundarbans until August 31, according to the UNB.

The catching of all types of fish by water vessels and boats is prohibited until July 23, according to a warning issued by the Fisheries and Livestock Ministry.

During this time, the government will distribute 86 kg of rice to 12,000 fisherman in Bagerhat area in two phases.

Furthermore, from June 1 to August 31, all types of tourist watercraft will be prohibited in the Sundarbans to ensure the safe breeding of fish in the forest’s rivers and canals.

According to Mohammad Belayet Hossain, Forest Divisional Officer of Sundarbans East Zone, the government previously imposed a three-month ban on tourism in the Sundarbans, and no tourists will be allowed in the Sundarbans during this period to ensure safe breeding of wild animals.

ASM Russel, Bagerhat District Fisheries Officer, stated that the Fisheries Department will be severe in enforcing this prohibition. Furthermore, he stated that drives will be done along the marine boundary.
